Naples to Captiva Island
& More
I have spent 35 years exploring most every corner of Southwest Florida.
Starting in the Everglades, north to Punta Gorda. I snap photos of old fishouses, seafood shacks, sleepy fishing coves, wooden dingys and yachts. I take millions
of photos, really! I paint the ones I really love. I hope you do too! These are
but a sample. I have 1800 - 2000 paintings. I you do not see you favorite local
landmark, email or call me, maybe I have it. I can't fit them all online!
Surfer Dudes, North CaptivaDancing along the shoreline these birds don't seem to mind getting their feet wet. At times you see dozens of these pretty shorebirds on the beached of North Captiva Island. I love to photograph them. | Crayola Cottages, Ft Myers BeachThis place really exists! Called Paradise Point it is 7 or 8 cottages all painted bright tropical colors. I painted this spot because I loved it. The owner of this resort tracked me down and made me an offer on the (original) I couldn't refuse! Thanks Dennis. Beachfront, they have a nice website. Check them out! |

Jose's Hideaway, North Captiva | Blue Waters, Fishouse North CaptivaCasting shadows over the entrance to Safety Harbor the fishouse has welcomed thousands of fisherman and Islanders alike. Idling their runabouts to North Captiva Island some just drop an anchor and cast a line. Doesn't get much better than that! |
Sundown, Fisherman's VillageFisherman's Village in Punta Gorda is a collection of shops and restaurants rambling along the wharf complete with a marina and resort amenities. Colorful and themed in a fishing town vibe, you will enjoy all has to offer. This painting was done at sundown. The colors just melted into the shadows that reflected hundreds of yards. Breath taking, I had to paint this! | Delinor Wiggins State Park, Naples |
High Tide at SunriseThe North Captiva Fishouse is a magical site anytime of day. But at sunrise it stands out like a beacon, ready to take on the day all by itself! In this painting the tide is so high it almost comes up to decks, the sunrise has been up for a few minutes and the sky is starting to turn blue. | Kelly's Fishouse, NaplesSince 1950, Kelly's Fishouse has been serving up fried shrimp and grouper to appreciative diners. Perched over the Gordon River, you'll enjoy the view, and the boats as they come and go. The same family has been running Kelly's for 60 years! Ask for Mama Kelly and you will meet the sweet family matriarch. |
In Naples. Picture yourself here!Stepping out of the gulf with wet toes gathering sand you trip upon this spot! Wow just like an advertisement. Relax! | Sea Oats, North CaptivaNorth Captiva is about 2 1/2 miles long. 2/3 of the Island is a state preserve where the beach is pristine and dotted with sea oats and other beach scrub. This day was windy with waves crashing and seagulls flying. I took a photo or( two hundred,) and painted this one! On this beach you may not see another beachcomber for miles. Better remember the sun screen! |
Times Square, Ft Myers BeachYou will smell suntan lotion, gyros and other Greek food, the seashore and fried fish, all whipped up to make you sit down at one of the bistro tables in the square and eat! Shops and restaurants fill the square with fun and color. This is the pier park in Ft Myers Beach. A fishing Pier, public beaches and a crowd of young and old entertained by performers working hard for a smile and a buck. Paradise, tourists in heaven. And all free, except parking! | Sunset, Ft Myers BeachSame area as above at sunset. The crowd builds to watch the sunset, and retreats like the tide when the sunset disappears. Sunsets are popular to photographers and painters alike. This sunset was pink, purple and lavender, and was so pretty compared to many "standard sunsets" of orange and yellow. But standard sunsets are still like ice cream cones, you never get tired of them! To me this scene had to be painted because it was so memorable and so colorful! |
